The Hass avocado is undoubtedly the best-selling in the world and represents 85% of our production. Optimal ripeness can be achieved after at least 10 - 12 days from harvest. Its penetrating and unique taste makes it different from other varieties and is good to eat even simply seasoned with oil, lemon, salt and pepper. Try it !
The tree is strong, does not accept low temperatures (not below 3 °) and fears the strong wind. The Hass variety is of Guatemalan origin. In the early 1920s, a postman named Rudolf Hass amateurly grew some avocado kernels for a small plantation. The plant obtained, given the excellent taste, it was then patented and has come down to us.
The fruit has a green and wrinkled skin, thick and adherent to the pulp, the shape is pyriform and the dimensions are medium-small. The core is small. The intense flavor characterizes it on the palate; the yellow and creamy pulp is perfect for guacamole, while the oil content is close to 20%. When ripe, its skin becomes very dark, tending to brown / black, and its pulp becomes soft to the touch. Fruits well, regularly. It is a variety that has imposed itself on the market in an overwhelming way, despite having a smaller size, also because it is very resistant to transport. In our land it can be harvested from December to April.
