The Fuerte Avocado is a fruit with a creamy flavor, with hazelnut notes, a sour aftertaste, and an excellent oil content: this certainly makes it the most suitable for preparing the famous guacamole sauce or for all avocado-based sauces that have a creamy consistency. Due to its freshness and genuineness, at least 9 - 10 days of maturation are required before it can be enjoyed.
If you want a more wild and less domesticated avocado, the Fuerte avocado is the one for you.

The Fuerte Avocado is of Mexican origin, it is a hybrid between a Guatemalan avocado and a Mexican one. The tree is vigorous, very resistant to cold and wind (hence its name). It was for a long time the most produced variety, before being surpassed by the Hass. A good producer is Israel while, in recent times, its cultivation in the United States has significantly decreased. The fruit has a smooth, dull green skin, very easy to peel. Its shape is elongated and the size is medium-large. The flesh inside is yellow-green in color. Its consistency is creamy without fibrousness, and the amount of oil present is very high (up to 20%). The pit is quite large and adheres to the flesh. The Fuerte avocado fruits more than well, but it is alternately productive. It can be harvested from November to February. The ripening process, after harvesting, is quite fast. Once ripening has occurred, the skin does not darken, but its flesh becomes soft.
